October 16 , 2005 - ASR uses a VideoRay Pro III to film Mayor Billiris of Tarpon Springs as she dove from a traditional Tarpon Springs sponge boat anchored in the mouth of the Anclote River.
This weekend, the Historical Diving Society celebrated their 100th Anniversary of the first Greek divers to arrive in Tarpon Springs. ASR used a VideoRay Pro III to film the Mayor of Tarpon Springs, Beverley Billiris, as she demonstrated traditional sponge diving with a canvas suit, steel shoes and a copper diving helmet, altogether weighing 170 lbs.

October 7-10 , 2005 - ASR participates in RoboNexus 2005, "the largest robotics event in the western hemisphere".
ASR brought several of their crawlers and camera systems to San Jose this past week to take part in RoboNexus 2005, including the VGTV Xtreme which conquered the mock disaster site in their booth. Read about it in the San Francisco Chronicle, PC Magazine, and Robots.net.

September 23 , 2005 - ASR wins Second Prize in Ocean Optics Photo Contest!
ASR took pictures at a a simulated hazardous-material training session as a firefighter, Brian Minten, prepared the VGTV Xtreme robots equipped with an Ocean Optics spectrometer to identify the chemical involved in the drill. Click here to visit Ocean Optics Photo Challenge web site.

August 29, 2005 - ASR responds with FLTF-3 to Hurricane Katrina!
ASR's President, Mark Micire, responds with Florida Task Force 3 to Biloxi, Mississippi. Mark brought with him a VideoRay Pro III and a VGTV Xtreme to use to search for victims of Hurricane Katrina. Read the Press Release!

July 11, 2005 ASR - personnel deploy to Hurricane Dennis
In response to the disaster resulting from Hurricane Dennis, personnel from ASR immediately volunteered both their time and robotic equipment to assist in the search for survivors and victims of the storm. Personnel and equipment were deployed under Florida Task Force 3 (FLTF3) to Destin, FL located in the Florida panhandle.

June 2005 - Two more ASR personnel become state certified Fire Fighters!
Two more members of the ASR team become state certified Fire Fighters making that a total of four. ASR is committed to aiding in defense and Homeland security research.

April 20-23, 2005 - NASA deployed the VGTV Xtreme and VideoRay Pro III during NEEMO Mission 8 at Aquarius!
The NEEMO Aquanauts from NASA drove the ASR's VGTV Xtreme and VideoRay's Pro III from the Aquarius habitat in April. ASR was topside to deliver personnel and equipment to the aquanauts below. Click here to learn about NEEMO, and click here to learn about Aquarius.

April 7-9, 2005 - ASR attended Dive into Ocean Careers at Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve.

January 2005 - American Standard Robotics, Inc. completed Phase I of the NIST SBIR grant project.
ASR has been working on the "Standard Robot Platform for Unstructured Environment Research" project since June 2004. The Phase I efforts completed in January of 2004. Project results to come...

December 2004 - Founding members of ASR are state certified fire fighters!
The two founding members of ASR attended HCC's Fire Academy. They completed their study in December and became official state certified fire fighters. The degree is meant to deepen their understanding of the needs of Fire Rescue personnel. ASR is dedicated to developing and providing tools to aid in search and rescue efforts.

ASR premiered the VGTV Xtreme at the RoboNexus Conference in San Jose this week. The revolutionary new amphibious robot delivers high performance inspection abilities under water or on land without compromising safety. Read the press release.
October 18, 2004 - NASA Deploys VGTV Xtreme during 7th NEEMO Mission
NASA deployed ASR's VGTV extreme robot during the 7th AquariusNASA Xtreme Environments Mission Operations (NEEMO) to the underwater Aquarius habitat this month. During the 5th day of NEEMO 7, ASR personnel and equipment joined the NEEMO Topside team to deliver the robot to the aquanauts. The following day, the Johnson Space Center ground control team in Houston remotely operated the robot using ASR's software. Read the press release.

October 9, 2004 - ASR Exhibit Robots at Local Fire FiremanDepartment Open House
ASR demonstrated the equipment for the fire department personnel, families, and local community during the annual open house at the Bloomingdale Volunteer Fire Department. ASR personnel described how the equipment is used for search and rescue. The robots were a hit at the open house.
September 17, 2004 - ASR Assists in Hurricane Ivan Response, Personnel and Robotic Equipment Support State in Pensacola
In response to the disaster resulting from Hurricane Ivan, personnel from ASR immediately volunteered both their time and robotic equipment to assist in the search for survivors and victims of the storm. Personnel and equipment were deployed under Florida Task Force 3 (FLTF3) to the Perdido Key area in the Florida panhandle.
September 13, 2004 -ASR Robot Successfully Deployed by Autonomechs LLC in Desert Field Test
An ASR robot survived an arduous field test in the Great Basin Desert. Autonomechs LLC. CEO, Tim Murphy, lead the field test with an intent of assessing the emerging response system using ASR’s robot.

August 24 - 26, 2004 - ASR attended PerMIS '04 - Performance Metrics for Intelligent Systems Workshop
ASR presented and demonstrated the new VGTV XTreme prototype to attendees of the PerMIS '04 workshop. The prototype performed flawlessly in the NIST Urban Search and Rescue Test Arena.

HurricaneAugust 17, 2004 -ASR assists in Hurricane Charley Response
ASR personnel and equipment responded to the disaster resulting from Hurricane Charley. Personnel and equipment were deployed with local and state agencies destined for the path of destruction – Punta Gorda and Arcadia, Florida.
July 26-29, 2004 - ASR presented at MGP Instruments 14th Annual User's Group Seminar Benchmarking, Training & Presentations
The seminar was at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort in Clearwater, Florida. ASR presented and held a product demo.
July 25-29, 2004 - ASR chaired the competition at The 2004 AAAI Mobile Robot Contest and Exhibition
The Rescue Robot League Competition was held in San Jose, California as part of AAAI-04 from July 27-29, 2004. The program included the Robot Challenge, Robot Rescue, the Open Interaction Event, the Robot Exhibition, and the Mobile Robot Workshop. July 12-14, 2004 - Inuktun Services Ltd. - Search and Rescue Robotics Paper Published at The 3rd International Conference on Continental Earthquakes
The paper was presented by Robin Li Gang from Inuktun Services Ltd. on 6/8/2004 in Beijing, China. The conference hosted scientists and policy-makers from different countries to exchange the latest research results and experience in continental earthquake studies, emergency management and insurance. ASR has been awarded a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Phase 1 of the SBIR will allow ASR to establish technical merit or feasibility of a standard robot platform designed for unstructured environment research.

April 7, 2004 - ROV Helps Recover Parts From Shuttle Trainer
Using a Videoray underwater reconnaissance robot, a hazardous duty robotics specialist at NASA helped find a missing thrust reverser that fell from a training jet.
March 3, 2004 - ASR Featured on Discovery Science Channel
ASR was featured in Discovery Science's "Techknowledge Episode 12". In addition to comments by president Mark Micire, the new VGTV-Xtreme prototype performed flawlessly while navigating debris filled culvert pipes and rubble.
